Community Based Order
A Community Based Order (CBO) is a supervised sentence served in the community, with conditions combining treatment and unpaid work.
A maximum two year sentence is available and a conviction may or may not be recorded.
A person who has been sentenced to a fine may apply to the court to have it changed to a CBO.
The law relating to CBOs is contained in sections 36-48 of the Sentencing Act 1991.
