Good Behaviour Bond

If a court finds a child guilty of an offence, the Court may adjourn (postpone) proceedings for a period of up to one year, and order that the young person provide a bond of a nominal amount and comply with the conditions set.

Conditions can include being of good behaviour and appearing before the court when asked. If a young person complies with the conditions set for the year then the charge is dismissed.

The law relating to good behaviour bonds is contained in sections 367-372 of the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005.
