Probation Order

A child who is found guilty of an offence can be placed on a probation order.  This order requires the person to report, when required, to a Youth Justice Officer.  They will also have to agree to conditions, which may include:

  • not to re-offend
  • obey any instructions of the Youth Justice Officer
  • attend school
  • not use alcohol or illegal drugs.

The law relating to probation orders is contained in sections 380-386 of the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005.
