Teachers' Professional Development Session - 'You be the Judge'

The Sentencing Advisory Council is pleased to invite teachers of VCE Legal Studies and VELS Civics and Citizenship to a free Professional Development Session on our new teaching kit – ‘You be the Judge’.

You be the Judge uses real Victorian cases to educate students about the purposes, methods and complexities of sentencing. Two case studies – involving culpable driving and armed robbery – for VCE Legal Studies, and one – involving a serious assault – for use in the Civics and Citizenship domain for Years 9 and 10, are included in the kit.

The session will be held:

Wednesday 15 August 2007
5.30 – 7.00pm
at The County Court of Victoria.

In this interactive session, Professor Arie Freiberg, one of Australia’s leading experts on sentencing, will guide you through how to get the best learning outcomes from the material. Participants will receive a printed copy and CD version of the kit.
