Online Sentencing Database Updated with New Statistics for Over 200 Higher Courts Offences

The Council has released updated higher courts sentencing statistics on SACStat, the Council’s online statistical database.

The new data includes over 200 higher courts offences with at least 10 charges sentenced in Victoria’s County and Supreme Courts over the five years to 30 June 2019.

Some of the new offences in this release of SACStat include knowingly possess child abuse material, home invasion, aggravated carjacking and accessory to murder.

SACStat also presents approximately 500 offences sentenced in the Magistrates’ Court of Victoria over the three years to 30 June 2019.

Court of Appeal Data

SACStat includes sentencing outcomes from the Court of Appeal in its higher courts data. Changes to sentence or conviction are incorporated into the data for successful appeals prior to 1 July 2019.
