Breach of Community Correction Orders

In June 2016, the Council began researching breaches of community correction orders (CCOs). The project focused on the offending activities of all offenders who received a CCO between 1 July 2012 and 30 June 2013. The Council tracked offenders who breached their CCO to 30 June 2016.

The project examined:

  • the rate at which offenders breached their CCOs
  • the nature of breaches, including the type of offence committed when further offending occurred
  • the court response to breaches, including decisions to cancel the CCO and impose a new sentence.

The Council published its findings in July 2017 in its report Contravention of Community Correction Orders.
