Statistics for Specific Offences

You can find sentencing outcomes for specific offences using our award-winning SACStat online database of statistics  and our long-running Sentencing Snapshots series.

Sentencing Advisory Council Statistics Online (SACStat)

Updated in May 2019, SACStat includes statistics for over 200 different offences sentenced in the higher courts (the County and Supreme Courts) of Victoria between 1 July 2013 and 30 June 2018. The database also includes nearly 500 different offences sentenced in the Magistrates' Court of Victoria between 1 July 2013 and 30 June 2016.

The latest version of SACStat includes offence summaries for higher courts offences with 10 or more charges and cases that received imprisonment, and for all Magistrates’ Court offences.

Our How to Use SACStat page explains how to locate a specific offence using SACStat.

Sentencing Snapshots

The Sentencing Snapshot series includes data for 31 offences heard in the County and Supreme Courts of Victoria. Published since 2005, Sentencing Snapshots cover a five-year period for each offence. Offences are updated every two years. Previously, Sentencing Snapshots included offences heard in the Magistrates' Court. The Council has since made its Magistrates’ Court sentencing data available on SACStat.

You can explore Sentencing Snapshots using Snapshots by date or Snapshots by offence, or you can browse the complete Sentencing Snapshot series.
