Breaching Intervention Orders focuses on the maximum penalty for the offences of breach of a family violence intervention order, breach of a stalking intervention order, and breach of a police-issued family violence safety notice. It considers the types of intervention orders available in Victoria, the penalties for breach, current sentencing practices, and the functions of a statutory maximum penalty in the context of these offences.
This report is in response to a request for advice on maximum penalties for breach of family violence and stalking intervention orders. In its final report, the Council examines sentencing practices for breach of family violence intervention orders.
