Sentencing Practices for Breach of Family Violence Intervention Orders considers approaches to sentencing breaches of family violence intervention orders under the Crimes (Family Violence) Act 1987 and issues raised in consultation regarding the inadequacy and inconsistency of sentences.
The report includes guiding principles for use by those sentencing for breach of family violence intervention orders.
This report is in response to a request for advice on sentencing practices for breach of family violence intervention orders. The Council examines maximum penalties for breach of family violence and stalking intervention orders in its report on breaching intervention orders.
