The Sentencing Advisory Council has released the seventh edition of its A Quick Guide to Sentencing.
The Quick Guide provides an updated and accessible overview of how sentencing works in Victoria. The new edition reflects recent legislative changes and continues to explain the where, when, what and how of sentencing in clear, practical terms.
Designed as a plain-language resource, the Quick Guide outlines how courts determine sentences and the factors they consider when deciding the appropriate outcome for an offence. By breaking down complex legal concepts, the Quick Guide aims to support a greater understanding of sentencing among the broader community.
