The Effect of Introducing Standard Sentences in Victoria is the first comprehensive examination of standard sentences since their introduction in 2018. The report examines sentencing practices for offences that currently have a standard sentence, including murder, trafficking in a large commercial quantity of a drug of dependence, culpable driving causing death and rape, and explains how standard sentences have affected sentencing practices in Victoria in the 10 years from 1 July 2014 to 30 June 2024.
